magazine heaven

i have a problem... i'm addicted to magazines. just the other day i purchased three– frankie, DQ and wedding style guide (ok so i'm already a mrs, but the lovely design is hard to resist!). AND that is why this would truly be my kind of heaven.

hello 2010! I've been taking a break from blogs as I've been on vacation (and what a lovely vacation it was) and busy with work in general, but I'm slowly getting back into it! I have been on a hunt for the perfect vase for home, and not until now have I found exactly what I am after. This is the "Cage" vase by Italian designer Stefano Gaggero, and is absolutely gorgeous. Now.. I wonder where I can get my hands on one?

If you asked me to name my top 3 all time favourite illustrators, Anke Weckmann would definitely be one of them. Her style is sweetly quirky, whimsical and truly unique. I have loved her drawings for as long as I can remember and when I got married last year, I knew I just had to ask her if she could do a custom illustration for my wedding invitation... i was ecstatic she said yes! And as I had imagined, it was very special and just perfect. Anyway, I was so excited to see her illustration on the cover of the 2010 Frankie calendar. Frankie being the only ever magazine that I have collected since issue one. Can there be a more perfect combination?! Nope, I didn't think so! And if you're a cat lover, there's her other cute blog we say meow.

I first read about this french urban pad in realliving (oct'09) and just fell in love with the space... lots of white, high ceilings, concrete floors and the most perfect courtyard terrace. ... how great is this little dome shaped desk? Ohhh and the white and blonde timber combo!!! Reminds me of those quiet study cubicles in the library, only hundred times more aesthetically pleasing. I would be inspired to get a lot of studying or creative thinking done in this. via roombysofie

UPDATE 25/11 - just found out this desk is a prototype by danish designer gamfratesi! they call it the 'rewrite'.

cooling off

This pigeon was spotted cooling off in a puddle of water on brunswick st, fitzroy. It was having a little bathe in there, not having a care in the world who was watching. It was, afterall, 33 hot degrees! Lunch at the little creatures dining hall was a nice experience too. They do really good pizzas. I must go back and have their mushroom/salami/mozzarella cheese pizza again.. just delish!

There's nothing quite like the clean and fresh feel of bright white walls and uncomplicated designs. I'm particularly drawn to the last space with small pops of colour amongst the white... so lovely and refreshing.
